The moment she mentioned the name of this dish she was going to share, our imaginations ran wild wondering what it could be… It certainly looks delicious from the photos and video Gina made so we understand now why members and crew at VIVISTOP Mini in Seoul loved it so much. Let’s learn how to make it for ourselves today!
How did you come up with the idea for your project?
At VIVISTOP Mini in Seoul, we had a Halloween party last year. All the members and crew prepared foods and drinks together and we had a lot of fun. Some made creepy cookies using their own cookie cutters, and others made chocolates, cup cakes, smoothies, etc. My choice was “Eggs in Hell” which our members liked so much, and we literally polished it off the plates. If you are hungry and want something hot, hearty and healthy, Eggs in Hell is highly recommended!
What makes this a cool project?
The coolest thing about Eggs in Hell is that it is hard to fail. The recipe is very simple, and you will have a very decent dish made of eggs you can enjoy with all of your family in a short time. Also, instead of the vegetables or types of meat I mentioned below, you can always use what you already have in your refrigerator.
Could you share with us a bit about your prototyping process? What did you learn from the more memorable failed attempts?
For my first trial of recording a video on how to make eggs in hell, I was too excited and forgot to adjust the quantities of ingredients. My frying pan is around 10 inches and slightly small to make this eggs in hell recipe for 3-4 people. When too many ingredients are in one pan, the heat from the pan gets trapped under the food and creates steam. It won’t get the caramelized crust that makes your ingredients crisp and delicious. If you don’t have a large enough pan or skillet, you can cook in batches.

Making Eggs In Hell
What materials do you need?
- 1 14oz tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 200g bacon, sausage or any type of ground meat
- 1 small onion (diced)
- 4-5 white mushrooms (diced)
- 1 small bell pepper (diced)
- 1 teaspoons crushed red pepper (skip if you don’t like spicy food)
- 3-4 eggs
- 1 cup shredded cheese (please feel free to add more if you like cheese)
- Bread (optional)
What tools do you need?
- Frying pan or Skillet
- Kitchen knife
- Cutting board
Step 1: Dice your vegetables using a knife and cutting board. Please refer to our short video on how to use kitchen knives to take care of your own safety.
Step 2: Heat a frying pan on “medium high”. Add the olive oil, then bacon, onions, bell peppers, and cook it for 5-8 minutes, or until onions are lightly browned.
Step 3: Pour in tomato sauce and mushrooms, stir to combine, and allow tomatoes to simmer for about 3 minutes, or until the sauce is slightly thickened and reduced.
Step 4: Lower the heat to “medium” and sprinkle sparsely with cheese.
Step 5: Evenly crack the eggs around the frying pan, and cook until eggs are as set as desired. If you want to reduce the cooking time, you can put a cover over your frying pan.
